This sign is located along Benham Falls Trail just north of the footbridge.
Marker Name: Trains to Trucks
Marker Text: Railroad logging in the Deschutes area began in 1916. An extensive network of railroad grades and trestles cut deep into the forests. The early 1950’s found trucks replacing trains and many of the existing grades were converted to roads. As you walk from the picnic area to the falls, your are traveling on one of these old railroad grades.
