Centenarian James J Brady was born in 1878 and in that year Rutherford B. Hayes was the 19th president of the United States. The phonograph is patented by Thomas Edison. The Salem witchcraft trial, the last of its kind in the U.S., opens in Salem, Massachusetts.

It's amazing how different the world was when he was born as compared to when he died.
