On the Anau mountain there is a site of religious significance, attracting pilgrims until our days. There was a beautiful mosque here, but it was destroyed by the big earthquake of 1948. Nowadays it can be visited - and most likely it will be as it's an essential stop in any tour of Ashgabat - by visitors.
As is the National Museum of History, where the replica is on display. This museum can be visited every day between 9 AM and 5 PM. The exhibit is spread through two floors. On the ground floor most of it is modern propaganda with little historical interest. The first floor is worth a visit, containing artefacts and dioramas covering a wide period of history of the region.
