In Ashgabat, close to the embracing mountains, there is an area dedicated to literature and poetry. There one can visit a monumental statue of a famous local poet - Magtymguly Fragi - and a writers statues garden, where this statue of Shakespeare is included.

The statue, as all the others around, was covered in golden leaf, and depicts a Shakespeare declaiming, with a book in his right hand. Note for the Turkmen spelling of his name: Wilyam Sekspir.
