This corn mill was constructed on the site of two former windmills. Dating back to 1581 there was a 'standaard molen' and 8-sided 'stelling' mill that burned down in 1831. The name of the mill comes from the site on the old town wall's of Gouda. On this spot there was the castle of the 'heeren van ter Gouw' .
