This memorial lies forgotten in an area of Windhoek where people drive by but seldom walk.

Although the memorial is located by a road (Simeon Shixungileni Street) without parking options, it's possible to park somewhere not far and just walk to the place. Safe enough during the day.
It's a relatively complex memorial, with several pillars covered in stone and a wall decorated the same way. There is a plaque with an inscription in Afrikaner:
HIERDIE MONUMENT
IS OPGERIG TER
NAGEDAGTENIS AAN
DIE
OUDSTRYDER-
BITTEREINDERS
VAN DIE TWEEDE VRYHEIDSOORLOG
1899-1902
DIT MOET IN DIE TOEKOMS DIEN AS INSPIRASIE VIR DIE AFRIKANERVOLK
"OOK ONS
HET GEBOU"
Which accordingly to Google Translate means:
"THIS MONUMENT
WAS ESTABLISHED TER
IN MEMORY OF
THE
ANCIENT WARRIOR-
BITTER ENDERS
OF THE SECOND WAR OF FREEDOM
1899-1902
IT MUST SERVE AS INSPIRATION FOR THE AFRICAN PEOPLE IN THE FUTURE
"US TOO
HAS BUILT""
Note that "bitereinders" were a faction of guerrilla fighters who were specially active in the last stage of the war. A number of them eventually seek refuge in South West Africa, modern Namibia.

Fun fact: there used to be a geocache on the spot but it was archived in 2022 (
