At the end of Trafalgar Street in Nelson, granite steps lead up to Christ Church Cathedral. At the top of the steps is the 35 m (115 ft) marble bell tower of the cathedral which sits at the rear of the church. The Anglican parish was established in the mid-19th century. The current structure was built in 1965.
