"Situada en el término municipal de Campillos-Sierra se encuentra una de las ermitas de la zona que mas me llama la atención. El camino para llegar es espectacular, nos encontramos en uno de los mejores sabinares de España. Sabinas centenarias mezcladas con pinos negrales, quejigos, carrascas y chopos en la ribera del río forman un bosque sorprendentemente bien cuidado y de un enorme valor paisajístico.
Se trata de una bella ermita que a pesar de su sencillez en su fachada exterior cuando entramos dentro sorprende por los detalles labrados en la roca que adornan los techos y paredes de la nave principal y las capillas laterales. De todos modos vamos a dejar que sean otros quienes describan el lugar.
”Erigido tras la aparición de la virgen a un pastor en 1208, el monumento que podemos contemplar en la actualidad es en su mayor parte fruto de las reformas del siglo XVII Y XVIII de estilo barroco sobre el original medieval. Buena parte del santuario está excavado en la roca con una espectacular cúpula y la lucernaria abierta en ella. Las cazoletas y otros símbolos sobre la roca en la pared de roca junto a la ermita permiten aventurar que en tiempos anteriores al cristianismo éste ya fue un lugar de culto.”

"Located in the municipality of Campillos-Sierra is one of the hermitages in the area that most attracts my attention. The path to get there is spectacular, we are in one of the best juniper forests in Spain. Centennial junipers mixed with black pines , gall oaks, holm oaks and poplars on the river bank form a surprisingly well-kept forest of enormous landscape value.
It is a beautiful hermitage that, despite its simplicity on its exterior façade, when we enter inside, it surprises with the details carved into the rock that adorn the ceilings and walls of the main nave and the side chapels. Anyway, we're going to let others describe the place.
”Erected after the appearance of the virgin to a shepherd in 1208, the monument that we can see today is mostly the result of the 17th and 18th century reforms in the baroque style on the medieval original. Much of the sanctuary is excavated in the rock with a spectacular dome and the skylight open in it. The bowls and other symbols on the rock on the rock wall next to the hermitage allow us to venture that in times before Christianity this was already a place of worship.”
