Marked by Ohio Historical Marker 11-50 (
visit link) which is shared on the opposite side with the Pioneer Pavillion, this old furnace is the third built to make iron in what was a strong industrial valley situated on the Mahoning River tributary Mill Creek. Centrally located between Pittsburgh and Cleveland, the Mahoning Valley ( aka "steel valley") is part of what is now known sadly as the "rust belt."
