[FR] Cet hôtel a été construit au début du XVIe siècle pour Durand Salvi, marchand florentin, mais il porte le nom de Jacques Cujas, régent de l’université de droit à Bourges, qui l’a habité plus tard.
Malgré l’origine italienne du premier propriétaire, cet hôtel est encore d’inspiration gothique (hormis les médaillons et les coquilles Renaissance). Son originalité réside surtout dans l’appareil polychrome brique et pierre employé pour les façades de la cour.
Depuis la fin du XIXe siècle, l’hôtel Cujas abrite le musée du Berry.

[EN] The hotel was built in the early 16th century for Durand Salvi, a Florentine merchant, but was later named after Jacques Cujas, Regent of the University of Law in Bourges.
Despite the Italian origins of its first owner, the hotel is still Gothic in inspiration (apart from the Renaissance medallions and shells). Its originality lies above all in the polychrome brick and stonework used on the courtyard facades.
Since the late 19th century, the Hôtel Cujas has housed the Musée du Berry.
