Pro Juventute is a Swiss children’s charitable foundation established in 1912. Beginning in 1913, they’ve been supported by semi-postal stamp issues from the Swiss post office. In 1931, these stamps showed various landscapes and one honoring literary critic and theologian Alexander Vinet. Included in the landscapes were Lake St. Moritz, Lake Geneva and this somewhat stylized view of the Wetterhorn looking northeast up the Grindelwald Valley. With an elevation of 3690 m, the Wetterhorn looms over the village of Grindelwald. Though not indicated on the stamp, they were sold with a five centime surcharge with the proceeds going to Pro Juventute.
