The tower is built in the Venetian Gothic style and was paid for by William Scott and is known locally as Tynemouth Clock Tower. It originally had four clock faces but one of them has been bricked up at some point.
the three remaining clock faces are white with the hours marked with Roman Numerals. There is an outer circle of minute markers and the hands area also black. The faces are all set into a stone roundel near the top of the tower which is topped with a pyramid shaped lead roof and a weather vane.
The clock was restored in 1999 and there is a marble tablet at the base of one the faces.
