"History
Background
The current bridge had as its predecessor another of the same name, built between 1533 and 1589 at the initiative of Canon Juan del Pozo, originally in stone, to bridge the Huécar gorge , connecting the convent of San Pablo and the urban area. This bridge collapsed.
new bridge
In 1902 the current iron and wood bridge was built. The project was carried out by the Valencian civil engineer José María Fuster y Tomás, and erected by George H. Bartle, whose foundry, also Valencian, was highly renowned at that time, and was inaugurated on April 19, 1903. It is a bridge rectilinear, 100 meters long in two spans and 60 meters maximum height, supported on the ashlar starting pillars of the previous bridge and, in the center, on an iron strut.
Part of the heritage of the city of Cuenca, it is one of the best places from which to observe the Hanging Houses ."
