"El Antiguo Hospicio de Oviedo es un monumento histórico artístico situado en la calle Gil de Jaz de dicha ciudad, en Asturias, España. Desde 1972 alberga el Hotel Reconquista y es una de las dos principales sedes de los Premios Princesa de Asturias junto con el Teatro Campoamor.
En 1752 se inicia la construcción del Hospital Hospicio de Oviedo por orden de Isidoro Gil de Jaz, regente de la audiencia del Principado de Asturias. Este propuso a la Corona un "Hospicio y Hospital de Huérfanos, Expósitos y Desamparados", con el objeto de recoger a huérfanos e inválidos y darles una instrucción que les permitiera desarrollar algún tipo de trabajo.
En 1942, la Diputación Provincial de Oviedo decidió restaurar el edificio. Desde 1972 alberga el llamado Hotel Reconquista, propiedad de la empresa HOASA, propiedad del Principado de Asturias. En 1973 fue declarado Bien de Interés cultural. Es una de las principales sedes de la semana de los Premios Princesa de Asturias, acogiendo la recepción y estancia de los premiados y la familia real antes y después de la ceremonia. En 2020 y debido a la COVID-19, fue también la sede de entrega de los premios, a puerta cerrada.

"The Old Hospice of Oviedo is a historical-artistic monument located on Gil de Jaz Street in that city, in Asturias, Spain. Since 1972 it has housed the Reconquista Hotel and is one of the two main venues for the Princess of Asturias Awards along with the Campoamor Theater.
In 1752 the construction of the Hospicio de Oviedo Hospital began by order of Isidoro Gil de Jaz, regent of the audience of the Principality of Asturias. He proposed to the Crown a "Hospice and Hospital for Orphans, Foundlings and Destitute", with the aim of collecting orphans and invalids and giving them instruction that would allow them to carry out some type of work.
In 1942, the Provincial Council of Oviedo decided to restore the building. Since 1972 it has housed the so-called Hotel Reconquista, property of the company HOASA, property of the Principality of Asturias. In 1973 it was declared an Asset of Cultural Interest. It is one of the main venues for the Princess of Asturias Awards week, hosting the reception and stay of the winners and the royal family before and after the ceremony. In 2020 and due to COVID-19, it was also the venue for the awards ceremony, behind closed doors.
