"The Convent of La Encarnación, in Arcos de la Frontera, in the province of Cádiz, is located in the so-called Callejón de las Monjas. It was founded in 1537, according to sources, and its works would culminate in 1544. It is a work directed by the Bachelor of Arts, Alonso de Baena. During the previous century, it was used as a chapel, hospital and brotherhood. In some works, consulted, it is pointed out that the convent managed a charity hospital, also called La Encarnación. This was founded by Mrs. Juana Jiménez Camacho in 1529. It was responsible for providing accommodation and care to the poor of the population. We know nothing else about the development of this monastery, which would be affected by the confiscation measures of the 19th century. .

Its artistic style responds to late Gothic. Its main façade is Plateresque and the adjacent one belongs to the flowery Gothic style, being framed in a Florenzal arch. The interior of the church has a single nave, still preserving important stylistic fragments from the 16th century. Currently, there is a project to transform it into a Museum of Sacred Art and Exhibition Hall.
