"La Miranda es una torre-mirador de estilo ecléctico de finales del S.XIX ubicada en el barrio de Marianao en San Baudilio de Llobregat.
Se desconoce su autor o fecha exacta de construcción. Aunque se estima construida junto al resto del Parque de Marianao entorno a 1880.
Ubicada en lo alto de una colina, dentro de los límites de la finca del Marqués de Mariano.
Según se desprende de las imágenes de la época, a los pies de la torre existía un pequeño lago artificial que servía a su vez de depósito abierto que daba respuesta a las necesidades hídricas del palacio y sus jardines. Esa agua era recogida y transportada mediante un sistema de conductos en la cercana colina de Santa Bárbara.
En 1946 se presenta en el ayuntamiento de San Baudilio de Llobregat el proyecto Parque Marianao. Proyecto de Urbanización y Enlace con el núcleo de San Baudilio de Llobregat. Esta actuación conlleva el aislamiento de la torre dentro de la nueva urbanización.
La falta de interés hace fracasar el ambicioso proyecto de urbanización. Derivando en los años siguientes en la proliferación de edificaciones ilegales.
En 1972 se urbaniza definifivamente el barrio cambiando su morfología hasta llegar a su estado actual.
A día de hoy, la torre se encuentra en un evidente estado de abandono, más visible por la falta de la balaustrada en la escalera y por la instalación de una reja protectora que evita el acceso al interior.
El ayuntamiento ha sido interpelado en diferentes ocasiones con el fin de rehabilitar La Torre. A día de hoy no existe todavía un plan de actuación.
Sigue la tendencia de la arquitectura modernista de la época. De estilo ecléctico según otras descripciones, contrasta con el neomedieval del Palacio de Marianao.
Ese modernismo orgánico, muy en auge en la Europa del S.XIX, se interesa por representar formas relacionadas con la tierra y la naturaleza.
Trabajada imitando un fantasmal tronco de árbol, tiene una escalera exterior en forma de caracol con restos de una balaustrada de piedra en forma de rama que trepa a lo largo del tronco. Arriba hay una imagen religiosa protegiendo y bendiciendo el conjunto. La parte inferior está vacía con diferentes techos. El primero, a la altura del primer tramo de escaleras, imita una gruta, mientras que cada una de las columnas, por la parte interior, tiene un banco de piedra, como si fuese excavado en la roca viva.
La gruta inferior pretende un sentido religioso también presente en otros parques de la época con grutas similares, directamente inspirados por la gruta de la Virgen de Lourdes.
Una de las teorias, relaciona el diseño de la torre con la persona de Antoni Gaudi, debido a las muchas similitudes con la estructura cueva-cascada del parque del antiguo Manicomio de Sant Boi. Aunque la teoría más plausible hace referencia a la autoría de Josep Fontserè i Mestre (Barcelona, 1829 - 1897), ya que fue la persona encargada de diseñar el Parc Samà para la familia Samà a imagen y semenjanza del Parc de Marianao (también de la familia Samà).
La tradición oral habla de la concentración de determinadas fuerzas telúricas en este lugar.
La torre está catalogada como Bien Cultural de Interés local (BCIL).
Se trata de la segunda mayor protección que puede presentar un elemento arquitectónico. La legislación obliga al mantenimiento y prohíbe el derribo."

"La Miranda is an eclectic style viewing tower from the late 19th century located in the Marianao neighborhood in San Baudilio de Llobregat.
Its author or exact date of construction is unknown. Although it is estimated to have been built along with the rest of the Marianao Park around 1880.
Located at the top of a hill, within the limits of the Marquis of Mariano's estate.
As can be seen from the images of the time, at the foot of the tower there was a small artificial lake that in turn served as an open reservoir that responded to the water needs of the palace and its gardens. In 1946 the Parque Marianao project was presented to the San Baudilio de Llobregat town hall. Urbanization Project and Link with the center of San Baudilio de Llobregat. This action entails the isolation of the tower within the new development.
Lack of interest causes the ambitious urbanization project to fail. Leading in the following years to the proliferation of illegal buildings.
In 1972 the neighborhood was definitively urbanized, changing its morphology until it reached its current state.
Today, the tower is in an obvious state of abandonment, most visible due to the lack of the balustrade on the stairs and the installation of a protective fence that prevents access to the interior.
The city council has been questioned on different occasions in order to rehabilitate La Torre. As of today, there is still no action plan.
It follows the trend of modernist architecture of the time. Eclectic in style according to other descriptions, it contrasts with the neomedieval style of the Marianao Palace.
This organic modernism, very popular in 19th century Europe, is interested in representing forms related to the earth and nature.
Made to imitate a ghostly tree trunk, it has an external staircase in the shape of a spiral with remains of a stone balustrade in the shape of a branch that climbs along the trunk. Above there is a religious image protecting and blessing the complex. The lower part is empty with different roofs. The first, at the height of the first flight of stairs, imitates a grotto, while each of the columns, on the inside, has a stone bench, as if it were excavated in the living rock.
The lower grotto aims to have a religious meaning also present in other parks of the time with similar grottoes, directly inspired by the grotto of the Virgin of Lourdes.
One of the theories relates the design of the tower to the person of Antoni Gaudi, due to the many similarities with the cave-waterfall structure of the park of the old Sant Boi Asylum. Although the most plausible theory refers to the authorship of Josep Fontserè i Mestre (Barcelona, ??1829 - 1897), since he was the person in charge of designing the Parc Samà for the Samà family in the image and similarity of the Parc de Marianao (also of the Samà family).
Oral tradition speaks of the concentration of certain telluric forces in this place.
The tower is listed as a Cultural Asset of Local Interest (BCIL).
This is the second greatest protection that an architectural element can present. The legislation requires maintenance and prohibits demolition."
