The Naif Cafe got a lot of publicity when investigators came to give news to one of the employees. "Baby Holly", who went missing over 40 years earlier when her parents were murdered, was working at Naif's Cafe in small-town Cushing, Oklahoma.

News article:

"Baby Holly" was reported missing after her parents were murdered in 1981. In June 2022, she was found alive — married with children.

A 40-year-old cold case that was finally cracked in 2022 changed the town of Cushing forever.

"It's hard to put in words. It's just really shocking. We’re a small town," said Olivia Milligan, an employee at Naif's Cafe in Cushing.

"Baby Holly" was reported missing after her parents were murdered in 1981. In June 2022, she was found alive — married with children.

"A lot of people are very interested and have definitely become invested, because she worked here for so long and was always such a sweet lady and everyone knew her," said Cheryl Sheldon, the catering director of Naif Cafe, Godofredo's and the Duncan Theatre.

Holly's life was changed forever after she learned she had been reported missing 40 years before. Her community was left to adapt to the shock, as news crews flocked to the town and dozens of questions lingered.

"It's been an interesting year for her and for us to go through this with her," Sheldon said. "It's been quite a journey."

Cushing residents said this was a new reality they never could have imagined for their friend.

"There's really not words for it. She’s a person I would see every day, and a lot of us would see. She's been up here for a long time," Milligan said.

Although it has been more than a year since investigators came into the cafe to tell Holly the news, the town still talks about what happened.

"People still come up here and ask us about Baby Holly and what we know," Milligan said.

"They would still come in and say, 'Hey, Holly. How’s your book coming? When do you fly out to New York?' She was always good to share what was going on and keeping people updated, so it's been exciting. It’s a sad story, but like I said, she’s going to use it for something good," Sheldon said.

While Holly's life will never be the same, those in Cushing have rallied behind her as she makes her life mission to support others who may have lived through similar scenarios.

"She stayed so strong in her faith that she knew there was a message from this story and that something good would come of it," Sheldon said.
