Beautiful and curious bell tower, it consists of three levels, the first, the tower, square, the second level is for the clocks, and the third level is an open dome with four windows.

"The founding of the church of San Julián took place on an uncertain date in the second half of the 13th century. According to tradition, it was financed by the fishermen of Setúbal. It is known that, towards the end of the 15th century, the church was connected to the palace of Jorge de Lencastre, master of the Order of Santiago and Duke of Aveiro. The duke used the Church of San Julián as a private chapel until around 1510.

In 1513, King Manuel I ordered its reconstruction. The work was carried out between 1516 and 1520, with the layout of the church attributed to Juan de Castillo and the direction of the work to the master bricklayer João Favacho. The reconstruction is in the Manueline style, the Portuguese variant of late Gothic, of which only the main (west) portal, the side portal to the north and the bell tower door remain.

In 1570 it was once again the subject of important works to repair the damage caused by the earthquake of 1531. This time, the reconstruction will be in the Mannerist style.

The earthquake of 1755 seriously damaged it again, practically destroying it, and it was the subject of a new reconstruction and redecoration at the end of the 18th century, in the baroque style. The general appearance of the façade, the wooden roof, the tiles, the main and side altarpieces and the main chapel date from this period."
