"The rampart which surrounded the town of Château-Thierry was flanked by circular towers. It is preserved in the northeast and had several doors still visible today; Porte Saint-Pierre and Porte Saint-Jean.

On the banks of the Marne there also remains a large artillery tower dating from the 15th century.

Between 1222 and 1236, the city was equipped with a new urban wall and the northern wall line of the castle was integrated into its layout."

"Le rempart qui entourait le bourg de Château-Thierry était flanqué de tours circulaires. Il est conservé au nord-est et était percé de plusieurs porte encore visible aujourd'hui ; porte Saint-Pierre et porte Saint-Jean.

Au bord de la Marne subsiste également une grosse tour d'artillerie datée du XVe siècle.

Entre 1222 et 1236, la ville est dotée d'une nouvelle enceinte urbaine et la ligne d'enceinte nord du château s'intègre à son tracé. "
