World War II Memorial Court of Honor was completed in 1948 and
was given to the City of St. Louis by the St. Louis War Memorial Committee.
Eugene Mackey, Jr. was the architect for the court and Hillis Arnold designed
the forty-foot limestone pillar in the shape of a broken blade with low-relief
figures of soldiers in battle.
