The lion overlooking the gate of the Police Museum was an inhabitant of the old Lion Tower, originally built around 1260 and found during archaeological excavations in 1985. It's therefore an old artefact.
Access to the area is restricted to the holders of a ticket for the Citadel. It costs 450 Egyptian Pounds. The grounds are open everyday from 8 to 5.
