Othe information:
"The Sault de Montmorency, such is the original name of the cataract, the one that Champlain gave it in honor of Henri II, Duke of Montmorency, his protector, viceroy of New France in 1619.
The falls are among the most imposing in Canada. 84 meters high, it exceeds those of Niagara by 30 meters. It has dug a vast pot 17 meters deep at its foot and produces a volume of water that could supply a large proportion of the population of Quebec.
This remarkable geographical accident has been reported since 1879 by a number of geological works, in particular because of the strong inclination of the strata at the base of the fall. It is a fracture in the earth's crust, the Montmorency fault, which caused the collapse of the rock formations on the river side."
