[FR]

"She is the daughter of Prince Bernard of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach who entered the service of the Netherlands and distinguished himself at the Battle of Waterloo and of Ida of Saxe-Meiningen, daughter of George I of Saxe-Meiningen.

She met Henri, alongside her brother Alexandre, on the island of Madeira in 1847. She married Henri in Weimar on May 19, 1853 and they moved to Walferdange Castle in Luxembourg, where he was Stadtholder. As she was before her marriage, she is active in charities becoming very popular. It was thanks to her that kindergartens, on the initiative of Friedrich Fröbel, were introduced in the region. The marriage, however, remains childless. When she died in 1872, she was buried in the New Delft Church in Delft. In 1876, the city of Luxembourg unveiled a statue of her in the presence of Henri. An avenue in the city is named in tribute to the princess."
