Article text:

Choctaw police released the 911 call from when a 12-year-old boy was accidentally shot by his brother outside Walmart.

This happened on the Fourth of July around 2 p.m. in the parking lot.

Instead of the boy watching fireworks on July 4th, he is in the hospital.

Doctors say they are deciding on surgery because he was shot in the chest.

"911, what is your emergency?" a dispatcher asks. "A little boy got shot in the parking lot of Walmart," the caller says.

Choctaw police say that boy was 12 years old, sitting in the van with his 14-year-old brother.

I think it's his brother," the caller said. "He ran in the store to get the mom.

Investigators say the boy was shot in the chest and police are calling it an accident.

So did his brother accidentally shoot him?" the dispatcher asked.

Yes.

Ma'am where is the brother that shot him?

He is right here. It was an accident.

Mom gets word, police say, and rushes out of the store.

Get somebody here fast," the woman says, on the phone with 911.

We are told the boys' dad is an Oklahoma City police employee.

Police say he wasn't there when the shooting happened.

Is he awake?" the dispatcher asked.

Yes!

Right now, it is unclear whose gun it belongs to.

What kind of gun did he get shot with?" the dispatcher asked.

I think it was a .38 millimeter.

Police haven't released the names of the people involved yet.
