Blijdorp Zoo has a new hotel. And not just any hotel, but a giant insect hotel. In addition to all the large animals, the smallest ones are also taken into account. Insects create their own living space, relax here and lay their eggs. It is a safe place where many insects are attracted and where new life arises.
We made this giant insect hotel measuring no less than 3 x 2.40 meters. The insect hotel is located in a beautiful spot in De Bijenvallei. An environment specially designed with flowers and plants that promote biodiversity. If you follow the path past the playground towards the forest reindeer, you will automatically pass them. With the arrival of the insect hotel, De Bijenvallei is complete. The hotel is made of used wood. When pruning and felling trees, a lot of wood is returned to our site. We want to use this wood as sustainably as possible. That is why we make various unique wood products from the best logs under the name BOOM Style. Residual materials, such as bamboo, have also been used. And the most special residual wood comes from the climbing structure of Gorilla Island in the zoo.
