"Giuseppe Mazzini (Génova, 22 de junio de 1805-Pisa, 10 de marzo de 1872), apodado El Alma de Italia, fue un político, periodista y activista italiano que bregó por la integración nacional italiana. Tuvo un destacado papel en el proceso de formación y unificación de la Italia independiente moderna a partir de los numerosos estados (muchos dominados por potencias extranjeras) que existieron hasta el siglo xix. También contribuyó a definir el movimiento europeo en pro de una democracia popular en un Estado republicano. En este sentido escribió Italia republicana y unitaria (1831) y Una nación libre (1851)."

"Giuseppe Mazzini (Genoa, June 22, 1805-Pisa, March 10, 1872), nicknamed The Soul of Italy, was an Italian politician, journalist and activist who fought for Italian national integration. He had a prominent role in the process of formation and unification of modern independent Italy from the numerous states (many dominated by foreign powers) that existed until the 19th century. It also contributed to defining the European movement in favor of a popular democracy in a republican State. In this sense wrote republican and unitary Italy (1831) and A free nation (1851)."
