"Trigueros ya cuenta con uno de sus atractivos urbanos más esperados, el Monumento en Honor a las Fiestas de San Antonio Abad, patrón de la localidad, que fue inaugurado por el Ayuntamiento este viernes 4 de noviembre en la Plaza de España del municipio.
En el acto de inauguración de este monumento han estado presentes el alcalde de Trigueros, Cristóbal Romero, y el escultor Martín Lagares, que ha sido el encargado de ejecutar este monumento, así como la Escuela de Tamborileros de Trigueros.
Con esta actuación el Ayuntamiento de Trigueros pone en valor una de las grandes citas festivas y culturales de Andalucía, ya que estas fiestas patronales reúnen a miles de personas para acompañar a San Antonio Abad y participar en las originales y señeras tiradas del Santo, donde los vecinos arrojan por ventanas y balcones todo tipo de alimentos por el recorrido que sigue la procesión.
Para la ejecución del monumento el escultor Martín Lagares ha producido una escultura que representa la figura de un tamborilero con su flauta y tamboril, junto a un cochino, una estampa tradicional que se remonta a cientos de años atrás y que supone el preámbulo y el anuncio de la celebración de las fiestas de San Antonio Abad."
