"The Chapel of this old hospital was originally dedicated to the devotion of Our Lady of Remedies, an image from the mid-16th century that is still worshiped in the altarpiece of the Tabernacle. This Hospital, as recorded in a Pastoral Visit of 1721, It was dedicated to housing pilgrim priests. In another previous Canonical Visit it appears intended for the raising of foundlings. Nothing specific is known about the original factory. Of the old complex only the Chapel remains, with a rectangular plan and divided into three naves. On November 1, 1755, it suffered the consequences of the Lisbon Earthquake. However, fifteen days later it was reopened for worship and was used as a Parish Temple while the repair works of the Parish were completed. The last reforms carried out in 1974 destroyed the charm of the old hermitage. The old wooden roofs were replaced with flat ceilings and the current terrazzo flooring was installed. Its whitewashed façade retains a delightful 18th century imprint. The central medallion displays a piece of Sevillian tilework that represents the Virgin of Mercy. Inside, in addition to other images, the owners of the Brotherhood of Jesus and Mary receive worship: Jesús Nazareno; Christ tied to the column and Our Lady of Sorrows."
