The cross stands by the entrance gate of Jardim da Verena, an usual gathering spot for the community. It's a place for festivals, commemorations or just relax.

The cross is made of stone, no apparent reason for it's placement. There is an inscription: "Uma Cruz Basta para dizer na História quem é Portugal". Meaning: "A cross is enough to define in History who's Portugal". And a date is carved in the back: 1709.
