This well actually named the hamlet in which is located: Poço Ferreiros. This is not an unique situation. Wells were gathering spots for people living in the area and eventually people started building and residing around some wells, and the result of this permanent presence was often named after the original well.
It's relatively big, covered for safety with a manual device to make extraction of water easier. It's still usable although not many people extract water from wells anymore.
