The name "Roudná" originally belonged to a fortress, which, according to sources, existed at least between 1416 and 1555 on a hill in today's Bílá Hora near Bolevecký Pond (now the site of an industrial plant). The street "Na Roudné" was later named after the path that inhabitants used to walk to the Roudná fortress. Gradually, the significance of the word "Roudná" shifted from the fortress to the houses in the original Malice as the Roudná fortress lost its importance (already mentioned as a "deserted castle" in 1543).

Despite the passage of time, the elements' adversity, or the influence of the powerful, the extraordinary district of Roudná in Pilsen maintains its unique atmosphere. It was not destroyed by the threatening floods of 2002, nor did it succumb to the ambitious plans for demolition in order to build extensive stadiums and a sports complex, as allegedly planned during the era of socialist construction. The suburban courtyard adorning the corner of Lucní and Na Roudné streets is still visible in its almost unchanged form to this day. This generally holds true for the surrounding buildings as well. Perhaps only the parked cars and different attire will help us distinguish which of the photographs was taken in 1910 or 2023.
