Fundado por el cardenal Cisneros en 1499, su fachada es una de las más bellas del Renacimiento español. En su interior destacan el patio de Santo Tomás de Villanueva, la Capilla de San lldefonso, que alberga el sepulcro del cardenal Cisneros, en mármol de Carrara, obra de Bartolomé Ordónez (que asumió el encargo tras fallecer Domenico Fancolli), el Patio Trilingüe y el Paraninfo donde cada 23 de abril se entrega el premio Cervantes de Literatura.
Actualmente alberga el rectorado de la Universidad de Alcalá”

COLLEGE
It was founded by Cardinal Cisneros in 1499 as the main college of the old University of Alcalá. It has one of the most outstanding façades of the Spanish Renaissance. Inside, The Santo Tomás de Villanueva courtyard, the Trilingüe courtyard, and the Paraninfo (Main Hall) stand out. Every 23rd April, the Cervantes Prize Award Ceremony is held at the Paraninfo The college chapel, San IldefonsoChapel, houses Cisneros tomb made of Carrara marble, which was carved by Bartolomé Ordóñez.
Nowadays it is the seat of the present-day University of Alcalá's rectorate.”
