This castle built in 1894 was designed by architect William S. Eames. The castle purpose was to be an water intake tower for the St. Louis water department. The tower had living quarters for the crews which worked in the tower. The castle used to be accessible via a dike from the bank but now the dike has been removed and the castle is surrounded by the turbulent waters of the Mississippi River.
The coordinates are for the Chain of Rocks Bridge just to the north of the castle which is the closest and best place to view the castle.
