The monumental town hall dates from 1615. In 1970 it was extensively restored and returned as much as possible to the situation of around 1750. The interior is completely in style, with stained glass windows, large silver candlesticks and old tiles. A unique location, located at Hoofdwagt 2 in the heart of Grave.

Getting married in this town hall means getting married by candlelight and to the sounds of Lohengrin's bridal march from an authentic music box (Simphonion, Breveté patent). After the wedding, the usher will accompany the bridal couple to the steps and give careful instructions. Because according to past criminal law, the left staircase is for the guilty. The stairs led straight to the gallows. The right staircase was for the acquitted and now for married people. If you accidentally take the wrong step, the marriage is doomed to failure, or so the popular story goes.

On the ground floor you will find the Tourist Information and the mini museum of the Zuiderwaterlinie, which is also definitely worth a visit.

Grave is a fortified town in the Dutch province of North Brabant, located on the Maas and part of the municipality of Land van Cuijk. On January 1, 2021, Grave had 8,580 inhabitants.
