"En nuestra Ciudad existe un monumento dedicado al Corazón de Nuestro Señor Jesucristo. Ubicado en la Calzadilla del Valle, en uno de los oteros de la Ciudad, flanquea la entrada del convento alcantarino del Valle. Se trata de un pequeño podium de varios escalones sobre el que descansa un primer cuerpo, de planta rectangular, que hace las veces de base de un pilar de unos ocho o diez metros de altura; el primer cuerpo, posee unas sencillas columnas en las esquinas; en ese cuerpo existe un medallón con la efigie de la Virgen de Araceli.
El cuerpo central del monumento, en material pétreo, con la leyenda “Reinaré en España. Bendeciré Lucena. 1945”, en clara referencia de las palabras del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús al Venerable Padre Bernardo de Hoyos: “Reinaré en España, y con más veneración que en otras muchas partes” (El 14 de mayo de 1733, día en el que aquel año se celebraba la Solemnidad de la Ascensión, después de comulgar con los demás estudiantes, el Padre Bernardo de Hoyos recibió en el presbiterio del templo la llamada Revelación de la Gran Promesa.
Según escribió a su confesor y director espiritual, el P. Juan de Loyola: Dióseme a entender que no se me daban a gustar las riquezas de este Corazón para mi sólo, sino para que por mi las gustasen otros. Pedí a toda la Santísima Trinidad la consecución de nuestros deseos, y pidiendo esta fiesta en especialidad para España, en que ni aun memoria parece hay de ella, me dijo Jesús: “Reinaré en España, y con más veneración que en otras muchas partes”).Y la parte superior, coronada con la efigie del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús, cuya mano derecha se extiende hacia los habitantes de Lucena. La devoción en Lucena, y entre los lucentinos, al Sagrado Corazón de Jesús está muy arraigada, y en muchos domicilios está entronizada esta advocación."
