Production in the factory started on 1 January 1908. The founder was Johann Schowanek and the company was already in the 1920s a major producer of wooden toys and turned pearls, which were exported all over the world.
It was recognised in its field as the largest manufacturer of wooden beads and buttons in Europe. After World War II, the company was nationalized and adopted the new name TOFA Albrechtice. This name was used until the company was renamed DETOA Albrechtice and it is still used today.
In 2010, the factory gates were opened and the interest in toy production excursions grew very quickly. The premises have been renovated for visitors and include a company shop, a permanent exhibition of production, creative workshops for children and a café. Visitors can see the entire production process with their own eyes, from woodworking, drying, dyeing, painting to the assembly of products that are exported all over the world. The company produces toys, games and custom-made products, mainly board game components as well as piano and piano mechanics (mainly for Petrof).
