The Fort Hill Confederate Memorial is located in Confederate Park at 183 Main St, Fort Mill, SC 29715. The small park has additional monuments: One is dedicated to “faithful” slaves loyal to the Confederacy, another to the soldiers of the Confederacy, the third, to the women of the Confederacy and last, to the Catawba Indians who served in the Confederate Army.
The Confederate Memorial is listed on the Smithsonian Institution Research Information System website as "Defenders of State Sovereignty". It is described there as "Figure of Civil War soldier standing at rest on top of a stepped base. He wears a uniform consisting of a long coat, a short cape fastened at the top, and a hat. Both hands hold the tip of a sword. The handle of the sword rests next to his proper right foot. Front center of base has relief of palmetto tree in an oval."
