The plaque says, "Gothic Revival details such as the arched entranceway, rough granite and sandstone walls, and stained glass windows contribute to this building's image of permanence. School teachers from around the Province were trained in the Normal School from 1908, when it was built, until 1956 when the building was used for government offices. Like its neighbour, the Model School, this building was integrated into City Square, designed by Paul Merrick Architects in 1989, and is now a focal point within this office and commercial complex."
