"Antiguo templo conventual de los frailes mínimos o victorios que se construyó sobre una ermita dedicada a San Francisco de Paula realizada por voto de la ciudad durante la epidemia de peste de 1680. De la antigua ermita sólo se conserva la portada, pero el resto de la iglesia fue edificada en 1730 sobre trazas de fray Juan Rodríguez de Ocampo. Destacan las yeserías del crucero y el magnifico retablo barroco, obra atribuida a Francisco José Guerrero. También destacar numerosas obras artísticas como la imagen del Cristo de la Sangre, de origen colonial elaborada con médula de maíz y madera de acacia; la talla de San José, del taller granadino de José de Mora; y la imagen de San Marcos atribuida al escultor José de Medina. El antiguo Convento de San Francisco de Paula, anejo a la iglesia fue exclaustrado en el siglo XIX, albergando desde oficinas del Estado, escuelas, cuartel de la Guardia Civil y actualmente un hotel."

"Former convent temple of the Minimum or Victorious friars that was built on a hermitage dedicated to San Francisco de Paula made by vote of the city during the plague epidemic of 1680. Only the doorway of the old hermitage is preserved, but the rest of the The church was built in 1730 on designs by Brother Juan Rodríguez de Ocampo.
