Description:
From Find A Grave website: "Country Music Singer. She is probably best remembered for her single "Guys Do It All the Time," which became her only Number 1 hit on the US Country charts in 1996. Born Malinda Gayle McCready, she began singing in her local church when she was 3 years old. She graduated from high school at the age of 16 and moved to Nashville, Tennessee, two years later to pursue a musical career. She signed with BNA Records and released her debut album "Ten Thousand Angels" in 1996 that sold over two million copies. Included on this album were four chart singles; the title track which reached Number 6 on the US Country Charts, followed by "Guys Do It All the Time" (Number 1), "Maybe He'll Notice Her Now' (Number 18, a duet with Richie McDonald), and "A Girl's Gotta Do (What a Girl's Gotta Do" (Number 4). Her second album, "If I Don't Stay the Night," was not nearly as successful, selling only 825,000 copies with three singles released; "What If I Do," "The Other Side of the Kiss," and "You'll Never Know," none of which made it past Number 19 on the charts. In 1999 she released her third album "I'm Not So Tough," which proved to be unsuccessful and BNA Records dropped her. She then signed with Capital Records and released a self-titled album in 2002 which also failed and she was dropped by them later that year. After her musical career took a plunge, she struggled with substance addiction and had several suicide attempts as well as brushes with the law for attempting to purchase pain medication with a fake prescription, identify theft, assault, traffic violations, resisting arrest, and parole violations. Her boyfriend, record producer David Wilson with whom she had a son, died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound at her home in January 2013. A month later she also died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound at her home. Her last album, "I'm Still Here," was released in 2010 on Iconic Records."
