About the naming of the passage/tunnel
"A stela and a tunnel as a tribute to Jacques Swaters – Sunday 27-5-2012 – 10 am
On Sunday, May 27, around 10 a.m., a double tribute will be paid on the circuit to the man who was the driving force of one of the most famous racing stables in Belgium:
A statue stela will be unveiled inside the circuit (location to be determined) in the presence of Florence Swaters, the circuit director, Pierre-Alain Thibaut, the organizers of Spa-Classic and many well-known figures from the automotive world.
This work of art was created by the former coachbuilder of the Garage Francorchamps, Roberto Bernardi. For this artist with 'golden hands' there is no difference between working on the body of a Ferrari and creating a work of art.
The new passage between the Parking de la Source and the paddocks will be baptized with the name of Jacques Swaters."

About Jacques Swaters:
"Jacques Swaters was a racing driver from Belgium and former team owner of Ecurie Belgique, Ecurie Francorchamps, and Ecurie Nationale Belge.
Racing career
Swaters made his debut in the 24 Hours of Spa in an MG co-driven by his friend and racer-turned-journalist Paul Frère, entered under the Ecurie Francorchamps banner. In 1950 Swaters, Frère and André Pilette established Ecurie Belgique, a banner in which they prepared cars for themselves and other Belgian races, both in Grand Prix and sports car racing. Swaters himself raced a yellow Talbot-Lago in several events, including two World Championship rounds, the 1951 German and Italian Grands Prix."
