El ayuntamiento de Benamejí es un edificio de dos plantas con torre incluida que ocupa lo que anteriormente fue el Palacio de los Marqueses de Benamejí, aun pueden verse los escudos familiares en la fachada.
En el primer piso ondean las banderas oficiales y en su interior está, la alcaldía y diferentes dependencias municipales.

Benamejí se consolida en el siglo ix cuando el emir Abd Allah construyó su fortaleza llamada Banu Bashir (en árabe: ??? ?????), actualmente conocida como castillo de Gómez Arias o castillo de Benamejí, fortificada más tarde por Abd ar Rahman III. En 1240 Fernando III conquistó Benamexir y en 1254 fue donada por Alfonso X a la Orden de Santiago.

The Benamejí town hall is a two-story building with a tower included that occupies what was previously the Palace of the Marquises of Benamejí; the family coat of arms can still be seen on the façade.
The official flags fly on the first floor and inside is the mayor's office and different municipal offices.

In 1240 Fernando III conquered Benamexir and in 1254 it was donated by Alfonso X to the Order of Santiago.
The historical literature on banditry has used Benamejí as an important point of action in the 19th century. "The passage over the bridge to ford the river, on the way from Córdoba to Málaga, and its surroundings among hills made things easier for laying ambushes."
