Volksschüle - Rütenbrock, Germany - Former Schools on Waymarking.com

In the small town of Rütenbrock just across the border in Germany on the border of Drenthe and Groningen.
Next to the church is a small building with a sign in front of it that says Volkschüle.
There was also a board with some history of the school and a board with all kinds of old photos of school classes from the past.
On the board it is written that:

In 1788 the two colonies of Rütenbrock and Lindloh were founded.
In the first years there was no school, but it was only in 1795 that education for the youth was considered.
The first school was on the border with the Netherlands and was a turf hut. Later a half-timbered school was built next to the church which existed until 1875.
In this year, a brick school was built with two classrooms, with a center corridor and classrooms to the right and left.
A small toilet building separated for boys and girls stood behind the school building right next to the cemetery wall.
Due to the sharp increase in the number of students, a two-storey extension was built in 1910 with a classroom and a home for the teacher.

The school is not in use anymore at the time i was there, there were stacks of chairs in the building.
