DESCRIBED BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1975 (JCL) THE STATION IS THE BALL TOP CENTER OF THE ALTO GEORGIA INDUSTRIAL INSTITUTE WATER TANK. THE TANK HAS A DOME TOP WITH A HEMISPHERICAL BOTTOM, SUPPORTED BY FOUR I-BEAM LEGS. IT IS GREEN IN COLOR AND APPROXIMATELY 110 FEET HIGH. LOCATED ABOUT 1.6 MILES SOUTHWEST OF ALTO, 0.15 MILE NORTHWEST OF U.S. HIGHWAY 23 AND AT THE NORTH EDGE OF THE COMPLEX GROUNDS.
