DESCRIBED BY NATIONAL GEODETIC SURVEY 1975 (JCL) THE STATION IS THE APEX OF VENT ATOP THE ALTO NORTH MUNICIPAL WATER TANK. THE TANK HAS A CYLINDRICAL BODY WITH A DOME TOP AND HEMISPHERICAL BOTTOM, SUPPORTED BY FOUR TUBULAR LEGS. IT IS SILVER IN COLOR AND APPROXIMATELY 110 FEET HIGH. LOCATED IN THE NORTHEAST SECTION OF THE SMALL COMMUNITY OF ALTO, ABOUT 0.3 MILE NORTHEAST OF THE CENTER OF TOWN, 50 FEET NORTHWEST OF THE CENTERLINE OF U.S. HIGHWAY 23 AND 36 FEET SOUTHWEST OF THE CENTERLINE OF WHEELER AVENUE.
