"Iglesia de Ntra. Sra. de la Anunciación, estamos en un anejo de Purullena. Iglesia contruida en el año 1983. Sobre ella se encuentra una pequeña capilla, restaurada en la misma epoca.

Este municipio estuvo habitado desde la Prehistoria. Se han encontrado restos arqueológicos que datan del 3000 antes de Cristo. Es la antigua villa romana de Purullius, transformada luego en alquería de Guadix por los musulmanes. Su nombre hace alusión a las torres defensivas que se construyeron en la Edad Media sobre el río Fardes para impedir la penetración de los caballeros cristianos acampados en Cazorla. Al ser tierra fronteriza tuvo especial protagonismo en la etapa nazarí, hasta que en 1489 fue conquistada definitivamente por los Reyes Católicos y cedida a Juan de Benavides. Más tarde pasó a ser un anejo de Marchal y elevada por los propios Reyes Católicos a la categoría de Villa Real, que todavía luce en su título municipal."

We are in an annex of Purullena. Church built in 1983. Above it there is a small chapel, restored at the same time.

This municipality has been inhabited since Prehistory. Archaeological remains have been found dating back to 3000 BC. It is the ancient Roman villa of Purullius, later transformed into the Guadix farm by the Muslims. Its name refers to the defensive towers that were built in the Middle Ages on the Fardes River to prevent the penetration of the Christian knights camped in Cazorla. Being a border land, it had a special role in the Nasrid period, until in 1489 it was definitively conquered by the Catholic Monarchs and ceded to Juan de Benavides. Later it became an annex of Marchal and elevated by the Catholic Monarchs themselves to the category of Villa Real, which still shines in its municipal title."
