"ST. LOUIS – Saturday marked the grand opening of a south St. Louis playground named for a church member who passed away when he was just 12 years old.
"Community members cut a ribbon to introduce “Logan’s Playground,” in honor of “Logan Zielinski, who was killed in a drowning accident in 2021.
"Zielinski was a member of the St. Johns United Church of Christ. Those close to him say the playground was built because he did not want anyone to be alone.
"The church got some assistance from the group Unlimited Play in raising money for the construction. The playground is located by the church in the 11000 block of St. John Church Road. The church says the playground is an inclusive facility and welcomes anyone." ~ FOX2 Now
"Logan Zielinski was born on January 29, 2009, a happy healthy boy who loved life. Logan always made sure everyone was included and no one was left out of the fun. Logan grew up at St. Johns-Mehlville United Church of Christ and became the “church kid” full of energy as he ran up the aisle each Sunday for Children’s time. His zest for life was contagious as he brought joy and humor to all he met.
"In June 2021, Logan was in a terrible accident that took his life. In true Logan form, he became an organ donor, passing on life to others in need. In an effort to channel their grief, the family of Logan along with members of St. Johns-Mehlville UCC decided to honor Logan by building a playground where all kids could play no matter their abilities. Logan will live on forever in our hearts for the world was his playground." ~ Un limited Play
