El busto se ubicará en la actual Ronda Sur de Motril, que pasará a denominarse Avenida del Dr. Bethune.

"Henry Norman Bethune (Gravenhurst, 1890 - Tang, 1939) fue un médico canadiense, conocido por sus servicios en tiempo de guerra, con la intervención de sus unidades médicas a favor de la Segunda República Española durante la Guerra civil de España y con los aliados comunistas de la República de China durante la Segunda guerra sino-japonesa. Habitualmente se considera que desarrolló el primer servicio móvil de transfusiones de sangre en España en 1936.
El Dr. Bethune (1890-1939) hermanó su devoción por la medicina con la obligación de ser solidario con la humanidad. Su intervención, junto a sus ayudantes Hazen Sise y Thomas Wesley en la masacre de la carretera Málaga Almería en febrero de 1937 en socorro de la población civil, salvó un incontable número de vidas con sus innovadores métodos de transfusiones de sangre.
El Dr. Bethune aportó en su libro “El Crimen de la carretera Málaga-Almería», uno de los más valiosos testimonios históricos para dar a conocer las dimensiones de esta barbarie."

"On Sunday, February 19, at 1:00 p.m., a bust will be unveiled in tribute and recognition to Dr. Henry Bethune for his humanitarian work carried out during the Málaga-Almería highway massacre in 1937. The bust will be located in the current Ronda South of Motril, which will be renamed Avenida del Dr. Bethune.
"The discovery of the bust will be carried out by the mayor of Motril, Flor Almón, together with the consul of Canada in Malaga and the president of the April 14 Association, promoter of the tribute."

"Henry Norman Bethune (Gravenhurst, 1890 - Tang, 1939) was a Canadian doctor, known for his services in time of war, with the intervention of his medical units in favor of the Second Spanish Republic during the Spanish Civil War and with the communist allies of the Republic of China during the Second Sino-Japanese War. It is usually considered to have developed the first mobile blood transfusion service in Spain in 1936.
Dr. Bethune (1890-1939) combined his devotion to medicine with the obligation to be in solidarity with humanity. His intervention, along with his assistants Hazen Sise and Thomas Wesley in the Málaga Almería highway massacre in February 1937 to help the civilian population, saved countless lives with his innovative blood transfusion methods.
Dr. Bethune contributed in his book “The Crime of the Málaga-Almería Highway”, one of the most valuable historical testimonies to make known the dimensions of this barbarity."
