This museum is actualy three museums in one.
The size of the whole museum is 1800m²
The first and biggest one is the Beatles museum
On more then 1000m² it is the largest Beatles museum in the world. You wil find a privet collection of all kinds of Beatles memorabelia collected by one man for over 40 years.
The second one is the Sea Transmitter Museum it is all about how in the sixties and seventies the popmuziek was brought to us on ships from the nordsea.
Sea Transmitter Museum
At that time, hardly any pop music could be heard on regular radio stations. That is why illegal 'pirate' channels were created.
The most popular was Radio Veronica, which had been anchored just outside territorial waters since 1960 and illegally broadcast its music programs. It had become a very popular channel among young people.
From 1974 onwards, these sea channels were taken off the air because a law against pirate channels came into force.
The ships from which the DJs delivered their programs have been recreated to scale and are shown. In addition, the history of the ships and the story behind the transmitters are also told.
And the third one is all about Elvis Presley
This museum is also a privet collection of one couple. They had there own museum but now are to old/ill to keep it running.
So since the summmer 2021 this collection was bought by the Beatles museum and now they are both in one buiding/Museum.
