"A whole museum dedicated to the bagpipe, the most traditional music instrument in Galicia, which belongs to the Provincial Bagpipe School of Ourense. It exhibits a large collection of bagpipes from all over the world, including unique specimens and others which have been reconstructed by specialists from the museum, as they are already impossible to find in their place of origin. The iconographic representation of the bagpipe in sculptures, paintings and photographs reflects on the evolution of this ancient instrument in history, a fundamental element in the research work of this museum.

The museum, unique in its kind and one of the largest collections in the world, occupies one of the pavilions of the old Provincial Hospital of Ourense, in the district of As Lagoas, nowadays occupied by the University Campus."
